Get set to get wet

Models coming into better agreement

DETROIT – If there's one weather message I have for you regarding our Christmas weather, it's "umbrella."

All of us will get a band of light rain to start our Tuesday, and then it'll be just scattered light showers the rest of the day…perhaps even a period by late afternoon where there isn't much rain in the area at all.

Highs in the upper 40s south of Detroit, and in the mid 40s farther north.  Light east wind shifting to the southeast.

Another band of rain moves into the area tonight…probably around midnight or a little after.  Very mild, with lows in the low 40s.  Light and variable wind.

Yet another band of rain overspreads the area on Wednesday, and this will be a steady, pounding rain at times…we'll likely see between one-half inch and one inch of rain just from this.  Highs in the mid 40s to near 50.

Rain will continue into Christmas Eve, with evening temperatures in the low 40s.

Rain will then mix with and change to some wet snowflakes Wednesday night, but I don't expect much (if any) accumulation.

Of greater note is the developing wind, which could gust to 40 to 45 mph by late night.

Christmas Morning will start cloudy and windy, but wind will diminish during the afternoon and the sun will even come out!  Highs in the upper 30s.

Partly cloudy Thursday night, with lows in the low 30s.

Partly cloudy on Friday, with highs back into the low to mid 40s.

Becoming cloudy Friday night, with a light rain or snow shower possible.  Lows in the mid 30s.

Becoming windy on Saturday with a light rain or snow shower possible early in the day.  Highs in the mid 30s.

Partly cloudy on Sunday, with highs near 30.
