Metro Detroit weather forecast: Gusty winds, spotty rain and snow showers

DETROIT – Most of the rain has moved east, so we are left with gusty winds and spotty rain and snow showers.

It will be a slippery start in a few spots and you can check your radar on the Local4Casters App or tune into Local 4 News Today right now and see where the drips and flakes may be flying. Expect cool and breezy conditions most of the day with temps in the mid 30s early and only in the low 40s this afternoon. Winds are W 10-20 mph gusting to near 30 degrees which will make it feel colder all day under mostly cloudy skies.

We may see areas of dense fog early Friday around Metro Detroit, but it all depends on the winds relaxing at the right or wrong time. Lighter winds allow for fog to form and again, if the winds relax enough overnight, the moisture from Wednesday will lead to fog Friday. Other than that, we’ll get into partly sunny skies and highs in the mid to maybe upper 40s tomorrow. Winds SSE 5-12 mph through the afternoon and dry conditions all day.

Heavy rain and thundershowers will be moving through Southeastern Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario early Saturday morning  with gusty winds returning. The morning will be wet and warmer with highs in the mid 50s and a sharp change happening through the afternoon and evening. A cold front blowing through will knock temps down and possible cause a switch from rain to snow but too late in the game for accumulation.

Scattered snow showers Saturday night with less expected Sunday. It will be windy on both weekend days and the combination of cold air and wind on Sunday means lake effect snow showers are possible to end the weekend.
