Hot afternoon, warm Saturday night

More hot weather the rest of the weekend

DETROIT – The first full weekend of Summer 2013 is here and it will feel like it. Hot, humid days and warm, muggy nights are ahead with scattered storms each day through Monday, at least.

After a hot and humid afternoon, the evening will be warm and muggy. Any thunderstorm activity will be scattered. However, a heavy downpour and lightning will occur if caught under one. Stowing an umbrella in the back of the car or in the picnic basket is a good idea. Not everyone gets rain or thunder, so River Days and other outdoor events will not be washed out.

For safety's sake, everyone must remember to remain hydrated, wear light, loose-fitting clothes and stay close to air conditioned facilities. Alcohol and caffeinated beverages do not keep the body hydrated. Water is best. Also, remember to use sunscreen.

Saturday night will be warm and muggy with lows near 70.

Sunday and Monday will be a repeat of Saturday. Highs will be near 90; perfect for the pool or the beach. There is a chance of afternoon or evening storms on Monday, the day of the Ford Fireworks. As in years past, there is a chance of showers dissipating or going away just in time for the light show.
