Labor Day weekend weather forecast for Metro Detroit

Saturday rain

The unofficial end to summer will feel like summer. It will be warmer than average and humid, again. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday.

Please join me on Twitter (@AndrewLocal4) for regular weather updates.

Saturday morning will be warm and humid with showers and thunderstorms south of I-94 and patchy along the I-69 corridor from Lapeer to Port Huron. Heavy downpours will lead to ponding, and visibility will be down in spots for families going to services and activities. Temps will be in the middle and upper 60s.

By the time Ford Arts, Beats and Eats or the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival get in to full swing Saturday afternoon some areas will have more sun than others. Places with cloudier skies will be in the upper 70s and low 80s most of the day. Areas with sunnier skies will see temps spike to the middle and upper 80s.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, as well. Wet weather will linger south of I-94 through the midday and early afternoon hours. Elsewhere, scattered showers and storms will pop up or move in from the west during the middle and latter half of Saturday afternoon.

Showers linger Saturday evening with temps in the low 80s. Baseball fans will need to bring their ponchos for the Tigers game against Cleveland. First pitch is at 7:08pm ET.

Saturday night will be warm and humid with lows in the 60s. Skies will be partly cloudy, and there will be less in the way of patchy fog or haze.

Sunday will be very warm and sunnier. It will be perfect for going to the pool or the beach. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

Labor Day, Monday, will be the same as Sunday. Skies will be bright with the mercury rising 5 to 10 degrees above average. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

Students can dress in shorts and short sleeves Tuesday, and they'll need umbrellas. Skies will go from mostly sunny to mostly cloudy, but temps will make it to between 80 and 85 degrees before skies become gray. A cold front brings showers and storms Tuesday afternoon and evening.

After the cold front passes, temperatures become more seasonable. Highs will be in the middle and upper 70s Wednesday and Thursday.
