DETROIT – More snow moves in Sunday morning for early-risers. Flurries and light snow will begin moving across Southeast Michigan during pre-dawn hours. Fortunately, accumulations will be light; a dusting to an inch. Although snow amounts will be very light, families going to services or activities Sunday morning will need to use caution while driving and walking. Temps will be near 10 degrees.
Snow will stop by Sunday afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy with high temperatures near 25 degrees. Any men's college basketball fans going to Ann Arbor for Wisconsin vs. Michigan or to East Lansing for Nebraska vs. Michigan State will have drier roads to and from the games.
Dry conditions persist Sunday night and into Presidents Day, Monday. The mercury will descend rapidly into the single digits again with wind chills below zero.
Clouds will gather Presidents' Day morning and snow will fall again in the afternoon. Highs will be near 25 degrees. This time, snow will be heavier and last longer giving a better chance of greater accumulation. Many areas may receive 1 to 2 inches of snow Monday afternoon then another 1 to 3 inches Monday night. Therefore, total accumulations may range from 2 inches to 5 inches by the end of Presidents' Day night.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunnier with higher temperatures. The thermometer will reach the low 30s Tuesday and the upper 30s Wednesday. Thursday has a chance of rain with highs near 40 degrees or more. The last time Detroit saw 40 degrees or more was January 13th, over a month ago.
