Local 4Casters: Cloudy, rainy Sunday ahead for metro Detroit

DETROIT – Sunday will not be as cold as Saturday, but it will be cloudier. Rain is in the forecast but not until closer to dinnertime. In addition, the week's warmup will be delayed a couple of days.

Sunday afternoon will be chilly with highs in the middle to upper 40s. Some areas west of Detroit and south of I-94 may make it to 50°F. Skies will become cloudier with rain on the way. The good news is any families with travel or outdoor plans will have a mostly dry day. Rain will arrive after 5 p.m. and travel from west to east across Southeast Michigan.

Sunday evening will be wet with chilly light rain. Temps in the low 40s.

Rain comes to an end after midnight, Sunday night. There is a slight chance a few snowflakes will mix in as temps approach freezing by dawn, Monday. A few areas may be slippery for the very early morning commute.

Monday will be partly sunny with highs back in the 40s. Monday night is interesting because the next system more precipitation as temps dip to the low 30s, again. Rain and snow showers are possible early Tuesday morning then change to chilly rain during the day, on Tuesday, as the mercury rises to the upper 40s.

Chilly air behind Tuesday's rain will delay any warm up by a day. Wednesday will be mostly sunny, but it will be chilly with highs in the upper 40s. Milder air arrive Thursday and Friday with highs in the upper 50s Thursday and low 50s Friday.
