Local 4Casters say sunny start to weekend Saturday

Rain coming next week

DETROIT – Metro Detroit will have clear skies and quickly cooling temperatures overnight with lows in the upper-40s in the suburbs and low to mid-50s closer to Detroit in the Urban Heat Island.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with low humidity: A picture-perfect day for the Race 4 The Cure downtown, where the Local 4 News Morning team will be. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at West Bloomfield High School will also happen on Saturday. Come on out and help me celebrate my 25th year as a cancer survivor, I'll be there all day and into the evening. Highs will be near 80 degrees with winds south-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

There will be more clouds on Saturday night with a possible late shower. Lows will be in the upper-50s.

Monday's computer models continue to suggest a bit of a muddled weather pattern, but at least a bit more consistency is beginning to show up in the models. Metro Detroit has two things on the horizon: A weak cold front crossing the state late Saturday night into Sunday and a suspicious area of low pressure passing across central Indiana and Ohio.

This is suspicious because for a couple of days it has been unclear how low the temperatures will be as portrayed by the computer models. Some of the models appear to be spinning up this low as a result of a big thunderstorm complex that will develop over the southern Plains.

In any event, at least scattered showers are possible Sunday morning, with a smaller chance Sunday afternoon. Furthermore, areas closer to the state line have a higher chance of rain, while areas farther north have less chance for rain. Highs will be in the mid-70s.

It will be partly cloudy Sunday night with lows in the mid-50s.

Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s. Last Monday, the WDIV Fighting Peacocks softball game was rained out, and it will be nice to get back out there this Monday evening and play some ball! It will be partly cloudy on Monday night with lows in the mid-50s.

Tuesday will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid-70s. Then there's a chance of showers Tuesday night with lows in the upper-50s.

Shower chances continue on Wednesday into Thursday with highs in the mid-70s.
