Local 4casters: Thunderstorms could develop Sunday

DETROIT – It's a big day here in southeast Michigan with the finals of the U.S. Senior Open up at Indianwood and the finals of the hydroplane races on the Detroit River, and thunderstorms may pose a problem.

This is a great day to check our awesome radar page on JustWeather.com before heading out, and don't forget that you can take JustWeather.com Mobile with you on your smart phone!

After a quiet start to the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop by late morning or early afternoon. Storms should diminish by mid-to-late afternoon so, although there could be weather delays at our big events, things should settle down enough towards the end of the day so they can finish.

Highs today will be near 90, and lows tonight will once again be near 70.

Then things REALLY heat up for the start of the new work week. Meteorologist Brandon Roux will tell you how hot and when we might see relief on Local 4 News Morning beginning at 6 a.m.
