Steamy, potentially stormy Memorial Day on tap

DETROIT – A steamy and potentially stormy Memorial Day Monday around Metro Detroit with a mild start in the mid 60s.

We will warm to near 80 degrees but get ready to dodge some afternoon rain and thundershowers. The best timeframe for wet weather is 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with scattered showers during this period and a few storms may develop with gusty winds. Dangerous swimming conditions on Lake Erie today and possible on your lake too with breezes kicking up waves.

Winds SSW 10-20 mph gusting to near 30 mph today.
We have more scattered rain and thundershowers again tomorrow afternoon as highs again reach 80 degrees. The storms tomorrow look to be more widespread and will last into the evening and possibly overnight. Wednesday could be still wet early and then scattered showers with the heat of the day midweek.
Thursday will be quiet and warm with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs in the 80° range.

Wet weather chances return again Friday and early Saturday but don't count any plans out this week.
