Metro Detroit forecast: Cool start in the upper 20s

Clouds and the lack of any snow cover means our morning lows are in the upper 20s to low 30s this Friday Morning.

With cooler air slowly working in, it could or should be colder. You can expect more light lake effect snow showers today without much in the way of accumulation and we will likely see a little bit of sun mixed in. Highs in the mid 30s with breezy conditions WSW 10-20 mph making it feel colder all day with wind chills in the 20s. Anyone driving west and/or north needs to be prepared for an occasional snow squall which can be dangerous but will be very limited.

Saturday will be a close copy of today with temps in the mid 20s to low and mid 30s. More pesky winds means more lake effect snow showers. Again, we could see a few areas getting a quick coating here and there with some brief times of sun and clouds in between. Wind chills could dip into the teens at times Saturday as well.

Model data suggests our area will see 1-3” of snow Sunday afternoon as something to keep an eye on. It would be nice to get a nice clean coating over Metro Detroit and we’ll keep you posted as we head through the next couple of days. We will also watch for a snow maker on Tuesday and Wednesday next week which could bring minor accumulations to Metro Detroit.
