Metro Detroit weather forecast: Morning temps in the 30s with rain chances later

Clouds this morning ahead of a rain chance moving into Metro Detroit later in the day.

Temps are mainly in the low and mid 30s as you head out, feeling like the upper 20s with a light breeze. Rain chances increase by 10 or 11am through about 4pm. The track of the rain should be more of an impact for east siders or those east of I-275. Still rain chances midday will be light as highs hit the low 40s which again, will feel cooler with the rain and breezes E 7-13 mph.

Midweek is the beginning of a cooler, winter change for a short while. Wednesday will be dry in the mid and upper 30s with mostly cloudy skies and wind chills in the 20s most of the day. Winds SW 5-15 mph won’t help to warm us much.

Even colder air arrives by Thursday with winds blowing off Lake Michigan bringing light snow showers from lake effect snow bands Thursday through Saturday. Temps through that period are mainly in the mid and upper 20s with gusty winds bringing bitter cold wind chills in the single digits to teens.

A storm arrives midday Sunday and it’s still too early to know the exact impact. Temps will be in the mid 30s and it should be mainly snow with a chance of some rain mixing in or perhaps taking over as temps warm. But, if it stays all snow, it could be a decent dumping for the kids to play in as we end the weekend. Stay ahead of snow and cold with the Local4Casters app and take the weather with you.
