Metro Detroit forecast: Sharply colder as weekend progresses

What about next week's storm?

DETROIT – Overall, it looks like a dry pattern for the next four days, so this may be a good time to get that car wash you have been putting off for a while!

Skies become mostly cloudy overnight, with lows in the upper 20s. It's going to be a breezy night, as well, with southwest to west wind diminishing from the strong late afternoon values we saw to somewhere in the 10 to 20 mph range.

Partly cloudy on Saturday, with a few flurries possible in the morning. Highs in the mid 30s. Becoming mostly clear Saturday night, with lows near 10.

Mostly sunny on Sunday (the day could start with a bit of cloud cover south of Detroit as another weather system passes well south of the state). It'll be a bright, but cold day for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. Our temperature roller coaster continues, as highs only reach the low to mid 20s. Mostly clear Sunday night, with lows near 8. Don't worry about Monday's record low…it's -2, set way back in 1900.

St. Patrick's Day looks dry, with partly cloudy skies, and highs in the mid 20s. Partly cloudy also on Tuesday, with highs in the mid 30s.

A chance of light snow Tuesday night. Lows near 30. This is the system I've been talking about all week. Right now, it appears that we'll miss the most significant aspects of it, as the storm should pass north of us. However, the track could still change, and any southward adjustment in the path could change my forecast dramatically. If this happens, I'll tweet you a quick update over the weekend -- you can follow me at @PaulGrossLocal4.

A chance of rain and snow showers. Highs in the low 40s.

Chance for a lingering early day light snow shower, then becoming partly cloudy and breezy. Highs in the upper 30s.

Partly cloudy. Highs in the low 40s.
