Metro Detroit forecast: Starting in the 20s with 40s later

By Brandon Roux - Meteorologist, Segment Reporter/Producer

A cool but manageable start to your Valentine’s Day here in Metro Detroit with temps in the upper 20s to low 30s and wind chills in the low 20s as you head out.

Skies are mostly clear most of the day with storms to our north and to our south producing clouds just out of our area. So, enjoy the sun again today with temps climbing into the mid 40s or maybe a bit warmer with the warming winds picking up today SW 10-20 mph at times. A cold front moves our way tonight and that storm to our north will sink into SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario late with a wintry mix turning to scattered light snow showers. Don’t expect much in the way of coverage or accumulation, but be careful as you head home from Valentine’s Day Dinner tonight.

Wednesday morning snow showers may leave a coating on the ground and cooler air moves in for a couple of days. Temps in the upper 20s to low 30s with mostly cloudy skies most of the day. Cooler winds WNW 10-20 mph will produce occasional snow showers and flurries coming and going.

A similar set up for Thursday with teens to start and then low 30s with very scattered  lake effect snow shower or flurries. We will start warming Friday back into the low 40s with clouds to sun and then clearing with 50s this weekend!  You can always take the weather with you with the Local4Casters app.
