Metro Detroit weather: Burst of cold temps take over

Tuesday brings chance of rain

DETROIT – Monday wasn’t exactly a heat wave, but the afternoon highs were the warmest we’ll feel for the next 10 days.

Plenty of clouds remain Monday night, but we'll stay dry. Lows will drop to around 30 degrees by daybreak.

Tuesday brings rain, not snow. Most of it will fall in the afternoon. West Zone locations will see a bit less than everyone else. Highs will be nearly identical to Monday's finish, around 40.

Beyond that, another burst of cold air takes over. Wednesday will be dry with highs in the mid-30s.

Thursday through the start of the weekend won’t make it above the freezing mark at all. In fact, highs will remain in the 20s in a good chunk of the area. Winds will pick up, carrying some light snowflakes into the area.

I'm keeping an eye on Sunday, though. Quite a bit of moisture is heading here. Temperatures are still a question as far as what form the precipitation will be taking.
