Metro Detroit weather: Chance of heavy rainfall in forecast

Rain intensity picks up Wednesday night

DETROIT – The 4 Live Radar is tracking light scattered showers, but rain will start picking up in intensity later Wednesday night. Expect to stay wet through the night. Lows will stay above normal, in the mid- to upper 50s.

Rain will continue through much of Thursday. Showers will start tapering off as the afternoon commute approaches. Rainfall totals will top 1 inch in spots, with some of the higher totals in the Metro Zone. Check out the breakdown of those totals on our 4ZONE Forecast page. Highs will be cooler, in the mid-60s.

We will finish the work week on a dry note. Both Friday and Saturday should be rain-free, with the exception of a small shower chance Friday night.

Highs will be in the low 70s Friday, and in the mid- to upper 70s on Saturday. In fact, Saturday should be the pick day of the three-day holiday weekend.

On Sunday, rain will return in spots, and Memorial Day Monday will feature a shower as well. Both days look more dry than wet.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler compared to Saturday. Highs Sunday will be in the mid-70s. Monday’s highs will reach the low 70s.

We’ll stay on the cooler side of average for our next shorter work week.
