Metro Detroit weather: Chance of strong storms, snow ahead

Thunderstorms arrive late Tuesday night

DETROIT – Skies in Metro Detroit will be mostly cloudy Monday night with just a slight chance at a sprinkle. Most of us will stay dry. Temperatures will drop to the mid-30s around midnight, then rise a bit toward daybreak.

Rain will arrive early Tuesday morning. There could be a few rumbles mixed in, but no severe weather is expected.

We'll spend the bulk of Tuesday dry before thunderstorms arrive late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. The storms might be strong, especially in our South Zone, which is under a marginal risk for severe weather.

Temperatures will cool down Wednesday. After some early showers, precipitation will turn to snow Wednesday night. Right now, it looks like some areas might see some minor accumulations. North and West Zones could see around an inch, and the Metro and South Zones might get just enough to cover the ground in spots.

We'll spend the rest of the work week dry and close to average (if you can believe that), before temperatures ramp up again for the weekend.
