Metro Detroit weather: Chilly weather, rain ahead

What about Halloween?

DETROIT – I hope you took advantage of Sunday’s milder weather, because we’re back into the 50s and stuck there right through the upcoming weekend.

Monday night will feature gradual clearing, and those areas that stay clear for most of the night -- the best chance is south and west of Detroit -- could potentially drop into the mid-30s (1-2 degrees Celsius for our Canadian neighbors), which means that frost is possible in the typically coldest spots. Areas that keep any cloud cover for a longer period overnight may hold in the mid to upper 30s (2-3 degrees Celsius).  Northwest wind at 4 to 7 mph.

Mostly sunny to start our Tuesday, then becoming partly cloudy. Highs should average near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius). Northwest wind at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday’s sunrise is at 7:58 a.m., and Tuesday’s sunset is at 6:36 p.m.

Rain develops on Wednesday, and it’s going to be a cold rain as highs only reach the mid-40s (7-8 degrees Celsius). If you have any outdoor plans scheduled on Wednesday, you may need to re-evaluate those plans ... it’s going to become a pretty raw day.

Rain continues Wednesday night, with near-steady temperatures in the mid to upper 40s (7-9 degrees Celsius).

Rain tapers off by afternoon on Thursday, with near-steady temperatures in the mid to upper 40s (7-9 degrees Celsius), although some of the computer models suggest that it’ll be warmer in the morning than it will be later in the afternoon.

Becoming partly cloudy Thursday night, with lows in the upper 30s (3-4 degrees Celsius).

Partly cloudy on Friday, with highs in the mid-50s (13-14 degrees Celsius).

Clouds increase and rain develops Friday night, with lows in the mid-40s (8 degrees Celsius).

At this point, it appears that any rain left over from Friday night should end first thing Saturday morning, but remember that we’re still five days out so the timing could change. Naturally, this Saturday is the big Michigan-Michigan State game, and kickoff is at noon in East Lansing.

It’s going to be a breezy game, with highs in the mid to upper 50s (13-14 degrees Celsius). Go Blue!  And my wife, the Spartan, told me that I also need to say "Go Green." So there. I did. But as a U of M alumnus, you can’t fault me for putting my heart behind my Maize ‘n’ Blue!

Partly cloudy on Sunday, with highs in the low to mid-50s (11-12 degrees Celsius).

As for Halloween, we’re now only one week away, and I’m holding firm with the forecast I gave you all last week:  a mostly sunny and dry day, with seasonable highs in the mid-50s (13 degrees Celsius), and early evening temperatures in the mid to upper 40s (8-9 degrees Celsius).
