Metro Detroit weather: Cold, snowy stretch ahead

Cloudy, breezy, cold Wednesday

DETROIT – Rain will be wrapping up early Tuesday evening. Clouds will break up a bit during the night, dropping temperatures into the 20s in most locations, except in the Metro Zone, which will stay around 30.

On Wednesday, it will be mostly cloudy, breezy and colder. Highs will reach only the mid-30s, and it’s one of the few days that we won't be seeing snowflakes.

On Thursday, lake-effect snow showers will be around in spots. High temperatures and breezy conditions won’t make it above 30 degrees in the afternoon. It won’t turn out to be our most enjoyable day of the forecast.

Temperatures will remain around 30 degrees through Saturday. Sunday will bring slightly milder air, but still enough to keep our next weather-maker as all snow. This round of snow may be enough to shovel, but no more than an inch or two is expected across the area.

It's still a bit early to nail down accumulations, but it looks like it will be our most intense burst of snow in the next 10 days.

Next week, we won’t be any warmer in the afternoon, and it will be even colder in the mornings. Lows in the teens are expected by the second half of next week.
