What a day to end the work week. Hazy sunshine and a stiff southwest breeze pushed temperatures well into the 60s to near 70 degrees (19-21 degrees Celsius), and boy did that feel nice. Don’t get used to it.
We’re going to play tag with a front that’s going to hang around all weekend long, and rain chances will come and go with it. By the end of the weekend, you’ll be sick and tired of hearing about the front…it’s truly going to drive you crazy. I’m showing you below the latest output from our in-house RPM model, but with a very important caveat: no computer model or meteorologist can pinpoint this front’s location within a few miles at any point this weekend. The reason I’m showing you this is to give you a general sense of the overall pattern, but don’t take any one snapshot and accept that as an exact representation of the weather at that time. So much depends upon where the front is at any time, and that includes our temperatures, as I’ll discuss in a moment.

First of all, shower chances will increase Friday evening as the front, which moved north of the Thumb during the day, starts sagging back to the south. Areas north of the front will see temps drop into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees (4-5 degrees Celsius). Areas south of the front will likely have lows near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius). Variable wind at 4 to 8 mph.
Rain is likely Saturday morning into the early afternoon, and then there’s a possibility for the activity to diminish for a while. Temperatures are extremely difficult. North of the front, you’ll probably remain in the 40s (6 to 8 degrees Celsius) all day long, and that’ll probably be most of us. South of the front…IF the front stops before reaching the state line…you may hit 60 degrees (15 degrees Celsius).
Saturday’s sunrise is at 7:28 a.m., and Saturday’s sunset is at 7:52 p.m.
Saturday night should only feature some widely scattered showers…I don’t expect any massive blobs of rain coming through. Lows near 40 degrees (5 degrees Celsius).
That front will race back to the north on Sunday, with a cold front following later in the day. So, shower and thundershower coverage should increase during the day…even if there isn’t much rain around first thing in the morning. Highs should rebound back to near 60 degrees (15 degrees Celsius).
