Metro Detroit weather: More of the same ahead

Rain coming next 24 hours

DETROIT – Well this won’t take long. We’ve got more of the same weather heading our way throughout the weekend.

You know by now that we’re in the grips of a low pressure system that has lost its way. It’s going to hang out over us for the next four days, keeping clouds intact and bringing periodic showers.

Overnight into Thursday, there is good indication in the models that the bulk of the rain will fall in our South Zone, with rainfall amounts tapering into our North Zone. But everyone will get a healthy dose of rain -- anywhere between 0.3 and 1.3 inches -- in the next 24 hours.

Temperatures are an easier call. Expect overnight lows in the mid-50s, with daytime highs in the low to mid-60s. That’s a move of less than 10 degrees each day.

We finally see the low weakening on Sunday, but it will still give us a last shot at a shower. Drier, brighter and warmer conditions will settle in early next week.
