Metro Detroit weather: Rain and thunder chance

Brief warmup

A quick moving line of showers are racing through Metro Detroit this Monday morning.

Temps in the low and mid 30s with mostly light snow falling before 6 or 7am, and then clearing and drying temporarily.  A stationary front will set up near the Ohio Border this afternoon bringing the chance for rain and scattered thundershowers after 2pm. High temps will hit the mid 40s with clouds mixed with a little sun through the early afternoon. Our timeframe for showers today is 2pm to 7pm  and most of the action will be along and south of I-96. We should all be prepared though for some afternoon showers even into parts of our North Zone.

We will get into a couple of days of sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday. High tomorrow will be in the 50 degree range and maybe even warmer if not for a north breeze and approaching cold front. That front moves through late in the day without much activity. The winds will pick up and temps begin to cool.

Wednesday temps will likely not make it out of the mid 30s after a cool start in the 20s. The winds will bring a bite to the air N 5-15 mph but the sunshine will feel nice. Warming back into the 40s Thursday and dry with a warm surge coming Friday with shower and storm chances increase by the end of the week.
