Metro Detroit weather: Temps flirting with 70 today

A wet start to your Friday, but you are going to like the way we finish. Most of the rain has already passed through Metro Detroit, even with a little bit of lightning. Roads are wet and slippery and the drive may be slower from the early morning showers. Skies will become mostly cloudy and warmer temperatures are moving in. Look for highs in the 60s this afternoon as a warm front moves through from south to north and a few neighborhoods around Detroit and south will flirt with 70 degrees. The winds will be active SW 10-20 mph and rain chances should move north of our viewing area along and north of the Saginaw Valley. That’s where the warm front will stall out and keep rain chances alive through the afternoon and evening.

That warm front will sag south tomorrow as a cool front and will not only bring scattered rain around Metro Detroit, but it will feel a bit cooler. Highs may hit 60 degrees midday, but as showers move in, the temps cool and winds ENE 5-12 mph from Lake Huron will make some of the area (especially our North Zone) cool down into the 40s at times. There will be some breaks in the rain action but we do have more rain coming to end the weekend.

We are not looking at a weekend washout, but more showers return Sunday midday or afternoon with a storm system coming in from the southwest. This means warmer air with the afternoon showers as highs head back into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. We do need to be patient with any outdoor plans this weekend, expecting some delays as we keep the umbrellas handy. You can always stay ahead of weather with you with our Local4Casters app.
