Metro Detroit weather: Warm, cloudy end to week

Foggy Thursday morning ahead

DETROIT – Mild temperatures won't be a problem for the next seven days, but trying to find the sun will be another matter entirely.

Clouds will break up a bit Wednesday night, but only after sunset, which will allow some fog to form by daybreak.

Overnight lows will be below freezing, but just barely, in many locations.

Once the fog burns off Thursday morning, we might see a few breaks in the clouds, but high temperatures will be warmer regardless. Expect highs in the mid-40s.

Friday will be mostly wet, but that could start as a few snowflakes or a mix of precipitation before changing to all rain. Highs will still run about a dozen degrees above average, in the mid-40s.

The weekend is still looking primarily dry. Sunday is when we might see a stray shower, but the organized rain will stay south of us.

Those two days will be our warmest of the forecast period -- upper 40s on Saturday and kissing 50 on Sunday afternoon.

We’ll hold onto the mild air early next week, but colder air and snow return for the second half.
