Metro Detroit weather: Warm temperatures continue through work week

Chance of thunderstorms later this week

DETROIT – The incredibly mild temperatures are setting up shop in southeast Michigan. We didn't quite get there Monday, but we will for most of the work week.

On Monday night, expect mostly cloudy skies. Lows should arrive around midnight just below 40 degrees and rise to the mid-40s for Tuesday's commute.

Tuesday will be cloudy with showers, mainly in the North Zone around midday. Highs will sneak into the 60s in much of the area. Our 4ZONE forecast page has the breakdown.

On Wednesday, we’ll be gunning for another record high. I’m forecasting 64 degrees, and the record is 65 degrees. It will be coming with a mix of sun and clouds.

Temperatures will get slightly cooler Thursday and Friday, but they'll still be nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of year.

There are also thunderstorms in the 10-day forecast for Friday, in February! There’s a chance that some of those could be strong or even severe. Damaging winds will be the most likely threat.

Beyond that, the weekend starts to resemble February for at least the last few days of the month. March starts a week from Wednesday.
