Milder after chilly Friday morning

Highs near 75

DETROIT – Motown will flirt with a record low temperature Friday morning then become milder with showers in the weekend forecast.

The thermometer Friday morning will toy with the record low of 46 degrees set back in 1979 in Detroit. Many suburbs will begin in the low 40s. It is hard to believe some families may use space heaters or wear jackets and sweaters to start the day. Skies will be clear.

Friday afternoon will be mostly sunny and milder with highs near 75. Mother Nature will provide the perfect setting for the start of the Susan G. Komen 3 Day. Conditions will be calm for boaters with 0 to 1 foot waves on lakes big and small and a northwest wind 5 to 10 knots.

Friday evening will have more fantastic conditions for baseball. The Detroit Tigers host the Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park with a 7:08pm ET first pitch. First inning temperatures will be near 70 degrees. Tigers' fans will need the Tigers jackets and hats to stay warm with temps falling into the low 60s by the end of the game.

Friday night will be fair and cool with lows in the middle 50s.

Saturday and Sunday will be slightly warmer with a chance of showers and storms. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop Saturday afternoon after 2pm and move over the region through Saturday evening. Scattered storms are possible, again, Sunday. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 70s. Afternoon temps on Sunday will be in the middle 70s. Families going to the African World Festival or the Pure Michigan 400 at MIS will need to prepare for rain.
