Monday brings showers, warmer temperatures

This week will bring a number of temperature swings

DETROIT – It's going to be a week of wild temperature swings. We will see high temps in the 90's and in the 60's within a matter of a few days. Today is going to be the start of a warm-up. An approaching warm front will bring scattered rain and thundershowers mainly during the morning. But a few early afternoon showers may linger. After noon, we will see partly cloudy skies with highs near 80 degrees with scattered showers moving out.

A big push of hot air moves in here on Tuesday. Warm winds will bring highs into the low and mid 90's tomorrow afternoon! Those southwest winds will be blowing 10-20 mph with stronger gusts. As hot as it's going to get, we can't rule out an isolated thundershower flaring up with the heat of the afternoon. But right now, our model guidance is not leaning that way so we'll be focused on the heat and humidity. It is still summer!

There is a better chance for scattered showers and storms again on Wednesday. Temps will be dropping with highs in the upper 80's to near 90 degrees before a cold front races through. That front will drop temps Thursday and Friday into the 60's and 70's. So the warm temps will be with us the first half of the week and then more fall like by the end of the work and school week.
