More snow around the corner in metro Detroit

Another shot of snow is just around the corner, but the big weather headlines are the dangerous arctic assault that’s moving in this weekend.

Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy. Temperatures will stay in the double digits, but just barely. Wind chills will be just above zero by sunrise.

Friday brings our next round of snow. The day starts dry, but flakes start flying by midday. They’ll be around off-and-on through mid evening. Accumulation will be limited… less than an inch in the area.

But that cold front that brings the snow will also usher in brutally cold air for the weekend. Temperatures will be at their coldest mark of the season Saturday morning, just barely above zero. Windy conditions will accompany that colder air mass bringing dangerous wind chills. They’ll be at their worst around breakfast on Saturday morning.

With those wind chills, frostbite can happen in less than 30 minutes. Make sure you cover ALL exposed skin, including your ears.

Even though temperatures will be slightly colder Sunday (by a few degrees), winds will be lighter so wind chills won’t be quite as bad.

Next week, we’ll make a quick recovery to near-normal temperatures. Even 40-degree highs are waiting in the 10 Day Forecast!
