More snow chances this coming week in Metro Detroit

Get the shovels ready!

DETROIT – Scattered light snow showers and flurries will move across the area Saturday night, with little to no accumulation for the heart of the metro Detroit area.

Areas north of I-69 could see a dusting, with an inch or so possible farther north toward Saginaw and the northern thumb. Lows in the mid 20s. Southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy Sunday with a few flurries or very light snow showers. Highs in the mid 30s. Southwest wind at 8 to 13 mph.

Another area of light snow moves in Sunday evening, and this one gives areas south of 8 Mile the best chance of seeing any accumulation. The way things look right now, Lenawee and Monroe counties could see 1-2 inches of snow by Monday morning, Wayne and Washtenaw Counties could see around an inch, and those of you north of 8 Mile should see less than that.

This is a change from Friday's forecast, so check back with me Sunday morning on Local 4 News Today for an update. Lows Sunday night in the upper 20s.

A strong Arctic cold front swings across the area Monday with some snow showers, and it'll become windier through the afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 30s in the morning, and temperatures may even start falling as the Arctic air streams in. Windy and colder Monday night with snow showers. Lows in the mid to upper teens.

Windy and very cold Tuesday. This will be our coldest day of the week with highs in the mid 20s, and wind chills in the single numbers all day. Snow showers are also likely. Windy with scattered light snow showers Tuesday night. Lows in the upper teens.

An Alberta Clipper will spread more snow across the area on Wednesday, with some light accumulations possible. Highs in the low 30s. Snow ends Wednesday night with lows in the upper teens to near 20.

Then partly cloudy on Thursday and Friday, although some computer models try to bring in more snow showers. The verdict is still out on this. Highs in the upper 20s both days.
