More sunshine, mild Saturday afternoon

Highs near 70

DETROIT – Saturday afternoon will have abundant sunshine for everyone. Families can act like movie stars by wearing sunglasses as they head to the Independent Film Series at Royal Oak Public Library at 2pm. Highs will be near 70 with a southerly wind blowing at 5 to 15 mph.

Saturday evening will have only a few clouds over the Artie Lange comedy appearance at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Temps will fall through the 60s and 50s by midnight.

Skies will be mostly cloudy Saturday night with showers just west of Southeast Michigan by dawn, Sunday morning. Temps will hang in the 50s.

Sunday will have spring showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Highs will be near 70, again. Drivers need to be extra alert on area roads and highways.

Monday will be rainy and cooler with highs near 55 after morning lows near 50. Students will need their umbrellas and rain boots and plan on indoor gym and recess. As a cold front passes, temperatures will drop like a stone, and the chance of some wet snow flakes Monday afternoon and evening exists.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunnier but colder with nighttime and morning lows in the 20s and afternoon highs near 40 degrees. Keep your winter coats handy.
