Partly sunny, warm and humid afternoon

Highs in the low 80s

DETROIT – Sunday's start in the Detroit area will be just as murky as Saturday's, but it remains warm and humid with hotter weather on the way later this week.

Sunday afternoon will be partly sunny, warm and humid. Highs will be in the low 80s with a heat index near 85. Families going to the 2014 Renaissance Festival will need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Some computer models squeeze a few small showers west of I-275 in the early afternoon, but most activities will remain dry.

Sunday evening will be partly cloudy, warm and muggy with temps in the upper 70s.

Sunday night will remain sultry with lows in the upper 60s. Patchy fog will develop by dawn Monday and cause delays for people going back to work.

Hotter air arrives early this week. Monday and Tuesday will be partly sunny with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. It remains very humid, too. Therefore, a heat index of 95 or greater is possible. Anyone with outdoor jobs, football players with afternoon practice and homeowners with afternoon chores must be careful not to overly exert themselves, stay near air conditioned buildings and drink water.

Late Tuesday and into Wednesday and Thursday, a cold front approaches with showers and thunderstorms during this time. Daytime highs will be in the low 80s and upper 70s Wednesday and Thursday.

Sunshine returns Friday and the weekend of Ford Arts, Beats and Eats with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
