Pattern of snow showers continues in metro Detroit

1 to 2 inches of new accumulation

DETROIT – Another round of snow returns late Tuesday night for Detroit and Southeast Michigan.

Another messy morning commute is likely, but the start of Wednesday's PM rush hour may be slick, too.

Tuesday evening will be cloudy with snow far off on the horizon. Therefore, travel to the 2015 Auto Show and the Detroit Red Wings 7:30pm ET game against the Minnesota Wild at Joe Louis Arena will be relatively dry. Temperatures will fall into the 20s.

Travel home from the hockey game and NAIAS may be tricky, especially to areas far west of the Motor City. After 11pm and overnight, light snow arrives as temperatures go to the low 20s.

Wednesday morning will be slippery with waves of light to moderate snow. Snow showers remain possible through the mid-day and early afternoon hours. This extended period of snow fall means many communities will receive 1 to 2 inches of new accumulation by Wednesday evening. Some spots will get nearly 2 and a half inches. Under 3 inches is manageable, and a push shovel will do the job of clearing driveways, sidewalks and porches.

The Detroit area will get a break from snow Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It does get much colder at night with lows in the teens. Afternoon temps will be in the 20s on Thursday and above freezing Friday and Saturday (in the middle 30s). A chance of snow returns Sunday.
