Polar Vortex 4 is headed our way

DETROIT – Beautiful sunshine through the late morning is giving way to more clouds rolling in for the rest of the day. Our highs today will hit the middle 20s with winds SW 7-17 mph making it feel colder. With much colder air moving in from the north, there is a clash between cool and colder air that will bring a few snow showers later this afternoon. Snow will not be intense and long lasting but it may linger for the early evening commute.

Temps will be in the low single digits to middle teens Wednesday through Friday. In fact, the coldest core of air comes in Thursday night which means we'll all be subzero on Friday morning with dangerous wind chills. The wind chills will be tough all week. We will see a few snow showers on Thursday with gusty winds making it the most raw day of the week. Friday morning will be our coldest air temperatures as we all wake up below zero with dangerous wind chills.

There's a chance for snow late Friday and early Saturday from a fast moving clipper that may lay down a fresh coating of snow. And the models show another Sunday and Monday for new snow where we will need the shovels again. We will keep an eye on it all week along with the effects of our midweek Polar Vortex.
