Potentially icy start on Saturday in metro Detroit

Then get ready for a big warm-up!

DETROIT – Most of the night will be dry, and the clear skies and light wind early on will allow temperatures to initially fall to near 20, before rising into the mid to upper 20s by dawn.

Freezing rain will move into the area between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., so BE CAREFUL if you're going to be out late at night, as sidewalks and roads could become slippery. South wind at 8 to 12 mph.

Freezing rain in the morning will change to scattered light rain showers and drizzle by lunchtime. Since areas from Sanilac County westward into the Saginaw Valley region will hold onto the freezing rain the longest, a Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued for Saturday morning. Use a lot of caution if you'll be driving up north Saturday morning. Temperatures should rise to around 40 by late afternoon. Southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph means it's going to be a breezy day, as well.

Light rain showers are possible Saturday night, with lows in the upper 30s.

More rain showers are likely to develop on Sunday, with highs near 50. Rain showers continue into Sunday night, and it's going to be a mild night with lows in the low to mid 40s.

Rain will start our Monday…possibly with some heavier downpours -- so the Monday morning rush hour could be a slow one. It's going to be a windy day as a cold front crosses the area midday and cuts off the rain. Highs once again near 50, but temperatures will fall sharply Monday night, when we hit a low in the upper 20s by Tuesday morning. Watch out for icy patches Tuesday morning, as all of that standing water starts to freeze.

Snow showers are likely on Tuesday, with highs only in the mid 30s. Snow showers end Tuesday night, with lows in the mid 20s.

Mostly cloudy on Wednesday, with highs in the mid 30s. Snow showers develop Wednesday night, with lows in the mid 20s.

Thanksgiving Day will be cloudy with some snow showers, and highs in the low 30s. One thing I'm keeping an eye on is the wind, which could be kind of breezy during America's Thanksgiving Day Parade -- that could impact the big balloons. Stay tuned…

Partly cloudy on Friday, with highs in the mid 30s.
