Prepare for possible spring snow

Snow could stack up to a quick half inch to an inch

DETROIT – There is quite a bit of snow in northern lower Michigan this morning but it's not moving in our direction. Just a heads up for anyone traveling north of Mt. Pleasant today… the roads will be wet and white up north. We are watching rain moving out of Illinois and Indiana heading in our direction.

Detroit area temps are in the mid to upper 20s this morning and as the moisture arrives, it could start as snow after 8am.

Temperatures will be the big variable.

If we stay cool, snow could stack up to a quick half inch to an inch.

But then, rain will begin to take over. Scattered rain showers today as we'll hit the upper 30s in the early afternoon.

High temps will try to climb to around 40 to 42° later this afternoon and into early evening. Winds will start increasing S 10-20 mph.

There will be scattered light rain for the early part of Friday before it moves east and becomes a bit more dry around lunch tomorrow.

Highs in the upper 40s will come early in the afternoon as cooler air rushes back in through the late afternoon. This system will keep breezy conditions in SE Michigan tomorrow as well.

Saturday is tricky as computer models call for a chance of a wintry mix midday, which could be a bit more snow.

Otherwise, mostly cloudy with highs climbing back to near 40°.

The outlook for Sunday and Monday (opening day at Comerica) looks good in the mid to upper 40s Sunday to low 50s Monday.

There is a chance for a light shower Monday, but right now it looks like it will hold off until after the Tiger's game.
