Rain expected Monday afternoon, cooler temps for Tuesday in Metro Detroit

Metro Detroit could see some thunderstorms

DETROIT – It has been a very summerlike start to the week with sunshine and temps quickly soaring into the 80s around Metro Detroit this Monday afternoon.

There is a cold front over Northern Lower Michigan moving very slowly to the south. So, we will see scattered rain and thundershowers late this afternoon and evening as the warm air meets up with this cold fron. Any storm development will be scattered with the chance for a brief heavy downpour and some isolated lightning. If you get a shower, it will be brief but it could slightly delay your early evening plans.

Again, not everyone will see rain although it would be nice as the rest of the week looks dry. Look for a few more scattered showers late tonight into the early overnight hours before conditions calm down.

Tuesday will be a bit cooler after the passage of the cold front. High temps will be about 10 degrees cooler tomorrow reaching the mid 70s with light winds NE 5-12 mph. Wednesday looks like a repeat performance staying dry and mild in the 70s. We will slowly warm up towards the end of the week making it back into the low 80s by Thursday or Friday. The computer models are showing signs of rain this weekend but it appears that the storm threat will hold off until Sunday.
