Scattered thunderstorms approaching Metro Detroit

Ben Bailey updates Metro Detroit weather forecast

DETROIT – Mother Nature is trying to close the curtain on our holiday weekend a bit early.

Despite our beautiful start, we’ll likely see scattered thundershowers through sunset. Skies become mainly clear overnight. Temperatures will fall to the mid-50s by daybreak.

Tuesday will be similar to Memorial Day, just slightly cooler and not as breezy. Partly cloudy skies will give way to scattered showers in the afternoon. Better chances will be in the southern half of the area. Highs will reach the low 70s in most locations.

Conditions look drier for midweek. Wednesday will be the coolest day of the forecast, with temperatures that will struggle to hit 70 under mostly cloudy skies. Thursday looks fantastic, with mostly sunny skies and near-normal highs in the mid-70s.

Friday will be a touch warmer, but will also bring scattered thunderstorms back into the forecast, and those might be around at multiple points during the day. Expect highs in the mid- to upper 70s.

The weekend looks pretty good right now, but there is no major warm-up in sight.
