Several inches of snow coat metro Detroit

3-5 inches of fresh snow and the roads are slick and sloppy

DETROIT – Most of us got up to 3-5 inches of fresh snow and the roads are slick and sloppy.

The good news is, the temps are warming today and the salt should be very effective.

CHECK: Snow emergency list

The sun will try and break out today with periods of sun and clouds.

Highs Tuesday will get into the mid 30s and with enough sunshine perhaps a bit warmer.

Breezes will switch from the NW to SW 10-20 mph.

Wednesday will be very nice as we start to thaw out. Highs will be in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

We will get into the low and mid 40s Thursday with a rain maker coming in late Thursday and early Friday.

That will cause some major melting, ice damming, and possibly flooding parts of SE Michigan.

Colder air will return this weekend with scattered snow showers both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday will be in the low 30s, while Sunday will drop us down in the 20s.
