Showers expected Monday afternoon

Dry start, but it will not be a dry finish

DETROIT – Cloudy skies will lead to rain this afternoon and it may begin around lunchtime with light rain moving in from the south.

Keep the umbrella handy and expect outdoor activities to be postponed later on, and a very slow evening commute.

Rain showers will be picking up in intensity through the afternoon and early evening. There is no threat of severe weather or even lightning here in SE Michigan. Highs will be jeopardized by clouds and rain. We hope to see near 50° before the rain moves in but the clouds and rain will keep temps in the low to mid 40s for most of the afternoon and evening. Rain totals could reach near 0.50" in some spots with lesser amounts in our far northwest suburbs and into the Thumb region.

Rain showers will continue into the night and possibly into the early overnight. Once the rain stops and the skies clear a bit, lows will again dip down into the mid 30s. Tuesday looks good with cloudy to partly sunny skies and highs into the low 50s. Winds will be breezy at times NNW 10-15 mph making it feel a bit cooler, but still a decent day.

Wednesday looks like another good day in the low 50s with plenty of sun. But, Thursday temps shoot into the mid 60s with warm winds cranking from the SW 10-25 mph. There is a chance for rain and thunder late Thursday and early Friday. But we should stay mild near 60° later this week and into the weekend. Right now, Saturday looks dry and the better of the two weekend days with some rain on Sunday.
