Slight chance for rain late this evening

DETROIT – Happy Memorial Day!

Highs are soaring into the low and mid 80s this afternoon with warming winds SW 7-12 mph. We'll see sun and clouds mixed through the afternoon and a slight chance for scattered rain and thundershowers late this evening. Get the BBQ done by 7 p.m., although it looks like most of the wet weather chances will be up north in the Thumb region.

Tuesday will bring a better chance for rain and more warm weather. Highs Tuesday should reach 80 degrees depending on afternoon cloud cover. Rain and thundershowers will start developing and move across SE Michigan after 1pm. Scattered showers stick around tomorrow evening and into early Wednesday.

Right now, there is no risk for severe weather Tuesday and we will certainly let you know if any stronger spring storms are possible.

Cloud cover will linger on Wednesday but it looks mostly dry with showers around the Ohio and Indiana borders. Those showers sag further south as the day goes along.

Highs midweek will dip down a bit into the mid 70s.

Sunshine comes back Thursday through most of the weekend and temperatures become very comfortable.
