Anyone traveling west of Livingston and Washtenaw Counties must use extra caution on the roads because snow will be more widespread in Lansing, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Grand Rapids.
Christmas evening in the Motor City area will have on and off snow flakes with temps near 20. The scenery will be perfect for a Christmas stroll and a visit of well-wishes to the neighbors.
It remains cold overnight with lows in the middle teens.
Thursday is the first day of Kwanzaa, and it will remain cold with a few morning snow showers. Accumulations will be around and inch just like Christmas.
Friday and Saturday will be sunnier and not as cold. Highs will go from the upper 20s to 35 degrees by the first half of the weekend. Snow showers return Sunday, and frigid air arrives for the remainder of 2013.
