Friday will begin chilly with morning temps in the 40s. Skies will be clearing as the sun rises at 6:29am EDT. Students may start the day with jackets at the bus stop but will not need them by the final bell.

Friday afternoon will be mostly sunny and warm with highs near 70. It will be perfect for afternoon soccer, field hockey, baseball and softball. Detroiters and tourists will have great weather for visiting the DIA's Diego & Frida exhibit, the Detroit Zoo, the Michigan Science Center or historic Fort Wayne.

Friday night will be fair and cool with lows in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday will also be bright and warmer. The Motor City area will have abundant sunshine and afternoon temps reach the low 70s on Saturday and near 75°F Sunday.

Showers and thunderstorms return for lawns and gardens Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will remain in the 70s Monday. A significant cold front Tuesday means thunderstorm activity will be more likely with heavy downpours and gusty winds. Scattered showers will linger Wednesday with temps in the cooler 50s. Warmer weather returns by next Thursday and Friday.
