Sunshine to fill Metro Detroit Thursday

High is expected to hit 86°

DETROIT – More summer temperatures with highs reaching into the mid-80s on Thursday with plenty of sunshine around Metro Detroit.

The breezes will start kicking up later Thursday morning and those winds will be with us for several days ahead. Thursday's high should hit 86° with winds WSW 10-20 mph gusting even stronger through the afternoon.

Friday will be mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the mid to maybe upper 80s without a ton of humidity so it's manageable. There are a series of weak cool fronts coming out of Canada Friday, Saturday, and Sunday kicking up those winds. But, rain chances will be limited. There's a slight chance for a shower or two mainly North of M-59 late Friday afternoon or evening. Highs again will be around 86° with winds WSW 10-20 mph at times.

Saturday will be mostly to partly sunny and mild with low 80s for highs around Metro Detroit. Again, a weak cool front brings a slight chance for a few showers in our northern counties through the afternoon hours. Most of us will be dry Saturday. Sunday is the better chance for rain and thundershowers around. We'll start mostly sunny with a few isolated showers in the late morning and better chances as we warm into the low 80s in the afternoon.

It's a bit early, but models indicate we could have some pockets of heavy rain Monday.
