Temps soar again with storms possible

Back to near 90, spotty thunderstorms

DETROIT – Air conditioners will be needed again Sunday.

Sunday afternoon will be hot and humid with highs near 90. Afternoon showers and storms are possible after 3 p.m. The Tigers play the Red Sox at Comerica Park starting just after 1 p.m. Weather will not hamper the start of the game, but the ride home will be dicey if caught under any showers. Also, the most comfortable time to enjoy music, food and art at River Days along Detroit's waterfront is during the morning and middle part of the day.

Anyone outside at any event will need to wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes, drink plenty of water, stay near air conditioned buildings and pack an umbrella.

Any showers or thunderstorms will leave Sunday night with warm and muggy conditions remaining.

The same routine will be needed Monday afternoon while finding a good spot to watch the Ford Fireworks. Daytime temps will be near 90 with a heat index above 90. Afternoon showers and storms may develop, again, but have a chance of dissipating by Monday night's start of the show.

Tuesday will be hot and humid, but the rest of next week will see slightly lower temps.
