Space station flies overhead Friday evening

Cloud cover may affect view

DETROIT – If you missed it on Local 4 News at Noon, the International Space Station (ISS) will fly over southeast Michigan this evening, but it's going to be a close call with the advancing clouds. We won't be able to see it if it's cloudy!

So, IF you still have clear skies at 6:28 p.m., look slightly to the right of due west and you should see a bright "star" fade into view and climb higher in the sky. At its highest point, it will be forty-five degrees above the horizon, or halfway between the horizon and straight up. It will be visible for six minutes before it fades out of view low in the south-southeast (just left of due south if you're facing south).

Let's hope the clouds hold off, because it's always so cool to see the space station fly overhead! Pray for clear skies, and let me know if you see it!
