VIDEO: Jupiter's auroras light up planet

Just as one of NASA's telescopes was getting set to enter Jupiter's orbit another wonder appeared on the planet's surface.

Video shows a blue spot at the north pole of Jupiter. That's an aurora caused by a cluster of high energy particles at the planet's poles.

The spots shown on this video actually are larger than the entire planet Earth. NASA hopes to get a closer look once their satellite enters Jupiter's orbit on Monday.

In March, northern and southern lights on Jupiter were spotted by NASA's Chandra X-Ray Observatory.
