DETROIT -

It is starting to warm up nicely with the clouds thinning out and humidity on the rise.

Highs should be in the low 80s Tuesday afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds with no real threat for rain until sunset this evening. Even that is just a chance for a few light, spotty showers.

Wednesday is the focal point of the week as we have been placed under a Slight Risk for severe weather by the Storm Prediction Center.

We may see a few widely scattered showers around mid morning with lows in the 60s. With the heating in the afternoon we will see thunderstorms developing over the area after 3pm.

Some of those storms will produce hail and lightning through the afternoon. Highs again will be near 80 degrees with higher humidity and fairly unstable air. We will get another round of strong storms by late evening into the overnight hours heading into Thursday.

Make sure you’ve got your weather radio as some storms may be strong overnight. Right now, the main concerns late Wednesday are damaging wind and hail.

A few storms may linger into early Thursday but clearing by 7 or 8 a.m. and turning beautiful Thursday afternoon with highs in the upper 70s and partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Friday and Saturday look gorgeous, but there is a chance for a few showers Sunday which is Father’s Day.
