Thousands in Michigan lose power from regional storm

Consumers, DTE Energy report more than 400,000 customers without power

DETROIT -

Strong wind and rain from a Midwestern storm has slammed into Michigan, knocking out power to thousands of people.

There are no immediate reports of injuries Sunday but Consumers Energy and DTE Energy report thousands of power outages in their territories.

As of 11 a.m., DTE Energy says it has 275,000 customers in southeast Michigan without power.

As of 4 a.m. Monday, Consumers Energy says it has more than 213,900 customers statewide without power.

The utility companies are warning everyone to stay away from any downed wires they come across.
