Thunderstorms move through Metro Detroit

Storms knock down wires, trees, leave thousands without power

DETROIT – Severe thunderstorms moved through Metro Detroit Wednesday evening, knocking down power lines, trees and power to thousands.

DTE Energy says most customers without power are in Wayne County. In total, DTE says 3,900 customers are without power after the storms.

Dearborn police say trees were down on southbound Telegraph Road at Michigan Avenue, at Hubbard and Chase and at Warren and Schaefer.

Dearborn Heights police say trees were down at Fenton and Richardson and at Van Buren and Mercedes.

Thunderstorm warnings have expired for all southeastern Michigan counties.
