Thursday night chill, becoming blustery

Wind chills back below zero

DETROIT – After Thursday morning ice and Thursday afternoon snow, colder air arrives Thursday night. Also, it become blustery with wind chills back below zero by Friday morning. Snow returns Super Bowl Weekend.

Thursday night will be partly to mostly cloudy while the mercury plummets, again. There will be a few scattered flurries with temps in the low 20s by midnight and in the low teens by dawn, Friday. The wind will blow from the northwest at 12 to 18 mph. As a result, wind chills will be just below zero by Friday morning.

Friday will be very cold and windy with highs in the upper teens and wind chills near zero much of the day. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny.

Super Bowl Weekend will begin dry and chilly with higher temps. Then snow returns on game day with lower temps returning. Saturday will become mostly cloudy, but a southwesterly wind will move temps to the upper 20s in the afternoon. While Super Bowl XLIX weather will be sunny and near 70 degrees at kickoff, Sunday will be very cold and slippery with highs in the upper teens and snow showers.

Monday and Tuesday will have frigid mornings in the single digits. Each afternoon will have temperatures in the teens and low 20s.
