Tuesday morning brings start of sub-freezing stretch

'Feels Like' temperatures in negatives

DETROIT – We are in the throes of another Polar Vortex, but this one is not as cold and windy as the last.

This vortex is an airmass circulating around the north pole that has broken loose sliding down to the northern United States. The bad news, this one will stick around a little longer. Temps in the upper single digits to low teens will feel like -5 to  -15 degrees.

Another chilly day Wednesday with scattered snow showers. Morning lows will be below zero with dangerous wind chills near -20 degrees. Highs in the mid teens will come with snow showers tomorrow afternoon. We will likely only see about an inch of fresh snow, but it will be a bit problematic for our evening commute Wednesday.

Cold air continues all week long. The warmest day ahead is Saturday in the 20s, but it may come with shovelable snow.

We'll keep you posted. Track what's coming our way on our radar images, get the dropping wind chills in your neighborhood, and an early look into your weekend forecast and beyond on the new ClickOnDetroit app (it's free!) in your app store.
